John L Carrigg 60 a farmer of Bennington township north of Dewar shot himself in his kitchen at 4 a m after a long illness including diabetes and heart trouble. He had been despondent since returning from Iowa City and leaves a widow and six children along with siblings and in laws. He was active in township affairs and a member of St. Josephs Church and Modern Woodmen. The body rests at O Keefe & Towne mortuary.

Des Moines June 1 The Iowa department of agriculture announces two new laws affecting dairy and breeding cattle imports and tuberculosis testing. All imported cattle must be retested for tuberculosis 11 to 90 days after arrival unless from accredited herds or those with two clean tests. Cattle imported after July 4 must pass the agglutination test for contagious abortion.
