La Porte City Boy Drowned Recovering Ball

La Porte City boy Brerstte LeRoy Hetts drowned Saturday afternoon when he jumped into a pond near town to recover a ball. His body was recovered within minutes and resuscitation continued for hours. He was born November 4, 1912, and lived with relatives, survived by father Charles Betts and siblings. Burial at Westview cemetery after services at the Tutt residence.

Des Moines reports include Ralph Dove 23 drowning while swimming near Chicago and Cathying in a stream near Bertram. A 48 mile wind damaged telephone lines between Sioux City and Denison.
