June sales by 30 department stores reporting to the bank nearly matched May with declines in many firms but gains in large cities. A 22.8 percent rise over June 1924 marks a yearly 3.4 percent gain for the first half of 1925. Stocks fell on average 3.4 percent. inventories were lower for over half the stores. Orders for new goods remained strong for most firms. collections rose to 44.5 percent of May accounts and were higher than last year.
