The essay argues bridge reveals character, advising on choosing business partners after bridgem weeks. It criticizes blame-shifting, never admitting mistakes, overbearing overbids, and gloating after losses. It favors fairness, decisive play, and playing with full effort while condemning half-hearted, lukewarm players at the card table.

Long-Lived Parents and Their Strong Descendants
Dr. Alexander Graham Bell argues in National Geographic that strong and vigorous parents tend to produce longer-lived children who inherit disease resistance and larger families. Genealogy records show many descendants arise from a small share of long-lived ancestors, suggesting a hereditary trend toward vigor and extended lifespan.
