Evanston Illinois July 25 Dr QC Fr Sweeney head of the chemical engineering dept of Iowa State college Ames told the Institute of Chemistry today that gasoline could disappear as fuels are made from agricultural waste. He cited furfural from oat hulls at Cedar Rapids Iowa and noted over 300 compounds from Iowa State suitable for commercial use. He warned high transport costs keep corn production regions vital and urged factories in farming areas to absorb rural population, warning of urban crowding and future food supply risks.
