Waterloo's Last Sprinkler Retired After Park loses water wagons
In Waterloo the old municipal sprinkler known as The Old Soak is retired. It once cooled hot crowds near Cedar River park and was turned over to the park board years ago. After a prank toppled it into the river and was not repaired, calcium chloride dust control replaces sprinkling, leaving the once famed vehicle by the cemetery fence as a memory of summers past.
