C A Adams a colored man, arrested on a larceny charge in Fort Dodge Iowa, claimed it is easy to obtain morphine locally and in Waterloo Des Moines. He said he often used large doses and that a physician warned a dose of 15 grains could kill. He denied selling dope here. police had suspected him for days. He was caught while taking two silk skirts from a dry goods store.
Des Moines July 25 District Judge Meyer ruled Fern Jacoby a 14 year old from Oelwein was detained without legal authority and granted a writ of habeas corpus. The decision reverses the Oelwein superior court which had committed her to Mitchellville reformatory after finding the parents unfit.
