Shrine Outing Draws Waterloo Shriners to Electric Park
A gala day for about 1,000 Shriners their wives and children from Waterloo and nearby towns featured a parade led by the Cedar Rapids El Kahir temple band at Electric Park. Athletic events included races for boys and girls, sack and walking contests, an egg on a spoon race, and a base ball game between the Sunbonnet Babies and the Teddie Bears. Prizes ranged from silk slippers and hose to candy and a green bathing suit as participants enjoyed a long, hot but festive Shrine outing with an evening dance and free feed by Bishop's east cafeteria.
