City Council Extends Restricted Parking to All Retail Areas
The city council adopted an amendment to the traffic ordinance placing the entire retail business district from Park Avenue to Fifth and Sycamore to Sixth on a one hour parking limit, unifying downtown rules after complaints of indefinite parking in front of storefronts. The measure preserves movement of cars and streetcars, aiming to prevent retail streets from garage use. A motorbus ordinance was also introduced to regulate bus operations near streetcar tracks and hotels, referred to the street and alley committee.
