Perkins Helped as Friend in Roosevelt Campaign Funds
Former Senator Nathan B. Scott testified before a Senate committee that no large contributions from Henry Havemeyer or the International Harvester Company flowed to the Roosevelt campaign. He cited his own gift of about 309,000 dollars and noted George W. Perkins gave 15,000 dollars, both used in West Virginia fights. He stressed Perkins gave personally, not through the Harvester or big trusts, and that the national committee barred such contributions.
