Ackley Pioneer Who Installed First Phones Dies
George Fe. MacFarland, 62, who installed Ackley’s first telephones when Iowa Telephone Co. organized the region, died in San Francisco, California. He served as chairman of the middle division and former president of Pacific Telephone Co.

A stubborn dump fire on upper Commercial street behind the Waterloo Gasoline Engine Plant required two hours of effort from Fire Station No. 4. Waterloo residents may hear the reorganized Moose band at Ca dar River park bathing beach Sunday afternoon.
