Brick Pavement Bid Lets 6.25 Miles Davenport Road
Scott county supervisors awarded McCarthy Improvement of Davenport a contract to pave about 6.25 miles of the Davenport-Gambril road from Brady Street north through Mt. Joy to east of Eldridge, with brick paving to be finished by December 1 1931 at about 4.98 per square yard. Other bids for Harrison New Liberty and Brady street road projects were discussed and contractors asked to resubmit with uniform time limits.

John O Connor aged 101 died Sunday at his daughter Mrs Nugents home in Ft Dodge following a brief illness. Born January 1 1820 in County Wexford Ireland he came to the United States at age 29 and later lived in Cleveland before moving onward.

Parrots and Canaries at Reduced Prices in Sioux City
Sioux City July 18 birds prices fall from wartime highs. Parrots such as Mexican yellowheads Cubas Panamanian and Brazilian parrots and red tailed African grays drop from 75 dollars to 50 for talking birds and 12 to 15 for speechless ones. Canaries also slide with St Andresburg rollers down to 8 to 15 dollars. Decline affects most birds beyond parrots and canaries as other fowl prices drift downward.

Teacher Declares Bankruptcy with 16000 Debt and Uniform Asset
In Sioux City on July 18 Wilbur W Molsberry a Superior township Indiana school superintendent filed a voluntary bankruptcy in federal court. He lists assets at 15000 including a complete army uniform from the government exempt from claim and liabilities at 16000 notes to A J McCall Land Co of Kansas City Missouri. Also John Krayenhagen Jr a Odebolt farmer filed a voluntary bankruptcy with liabilities 16258 87 and assets 3500 of which 1434 is exempt. Women in England start shoe repair training with 100 capital.
