The city enacts Ordinance No. 748 regulating cement sidewalk building on public streets and alleys. It sets sub grade, fill, forms, expansion joints, concrete mixing, deposition, thickness, width, marking, care, and inspection standards with penalties for noncompliance and bond requirements for contractors. Repeals prior ordinance 533.
The Chicago Rock Island and Pacific Railway Company obtains permission to lay and maintain railroad tracks across Second Street and along Cedar Street in Waterloo Iowa with adjacent switches and turnouts. The company must pave Cedar and Second streets to brown standard within fifty months and space between rails to be planked. acceptance filed with City Clerk within ten days of passage.
An Iowa city ordinance empowers the Health Officer and Board of Health to inspect wells and cisterns used for domestic purposes, declare impure water as a nuisance, and require repairs or fillings. Violators face fines up to thirty dollars and legal costs. The measure, approved by Mayor R. C. Thompson and City Clerk R. L. De Gon, outlines notice procedures and enforcement.
