Three Years Peels for Granzow Disloyalty Conviction
Dubuque reports Jed A. Granzow a Nason Gi furniture dealer was sentenced to three years in federal prison at Fort Leavenworth and fined 250 dollars plus costs after a June conviction for disloyalty. His wife suffered a collapse as the sentence was announced. Granzow, 57, appealed but the judge denied a new trial. The court noted most statements were to his employer. A separate case involved Rev. Wilhelm Schumann of Pomeroy receiving five years and a 259 dollar fine for espionage act violations. In Carson, Roland Forristal, 80, the mayor’s son, died by his own hand in the family home parlor. He was a longtime Carson and Oakland worker and had never married.

English Guest Will Give Interesting Tale at Rotary Meet

Iowa City Mian Escapes Death in Narrow Plunge
Lieut Gail C Oakes of Iowa City tumbled 4000 feet when a disabled aeroplane failed. His companion was killed. The craft plunged into a lake four feet deep, Oakes fractured his elbow and was badly hurt but expected to recover. He cut a wire to sever connection with the fire, preventing an explosion.
