Italy and Balkans Have Air Link
Tirana Albania July 99 y Italy has been brought within 40 minutes of the Balkan states. A bi weekly air service linking Brindisi and Valona Albania has been inaugurated the flight across the Adriatic taking just 40 minutes. This is the first stage in an air route which will eventually connect Italy and Constantinople via Valona and Salonica. The new service is operated by the Italian company Adria Aero Lloyd which has replaced the former German company in Albania. It is regarded as further evidence of Mussolini policy of commercial penetration in Albania and the other Balkan states. The new enterprise is looked upon with disfavor by Jugoslavia which fears the air line will be used ultimately for Italian military purposes.
