Tripoli Couple Becomes Aim Of Essex Car Theft Case
In Waverly Iowa July 7 Fred Schweer and his father obtained a warrant for Harvey Butler charged with larceny of an Essex car. The case traces to Aug 11 1919 when Herman Schweer and Pearl Haberman wed in Crane Creek Lutheran church. The bride’s mother Dora Rover of Readlyn and a young man claiming to be Pearl’s half brother appeared later. Butler allegedly lured the girl away and the car vanished. Officials seek Butler, the missing Schweer couple, and the car, while investigating possible foul play.
