Cummins to push broad bill to curb impersonation in lobbying

Senator Cummins introduces a sweeping Senate bill aimed at halting impersonation of Congress and officials. The measure would make impersonation over the telephone and in writing a felony with prison and fines, and would cover false claims of acting on behalf of officials. The bill targets the Lamar scheme and other lobbying methods, seeking broader enforcement in interstate communications.
