Ex Gov Hadley at Chautauqua Declares Our Common Duty
Ex Governor Herbert S Hadley of Missouri spoke at the Chautauqua assembly on a Thursday night. Despite a sore throat, he delivered a wide ranging address on governmental reform, loyalty to free law, and the need for unity among parties to curb socialism while praising Iowa and Missouri for progressive politics. He recalled his oil trust case and urged speedier justice for the poor and rich alike, noting recalls, primaries, and referendums as signs of a rising democratic impulse.
