Owan Briefs Overturning Liquor Charge Reaches High Court
In a United States Supreme Court brief, the Department of Justice opposes Sherman Miller of Sioux City seeking certiorari after his Iowa case over alleged illegal distillation and sale of rubbing alcohol and nonbeverage alcohol. The brief argues “fit for beverage purposes” excludes general alcohol in prohibition cases, and Miller’s indictment stands. Also notes Iowa officials greet Cedar Rapids’ Charles B. Robbins in Washington with reception plans. Capt. W. Perkins of Coe College assigned to Washington for two weeks in military intelligence work.
