Morse Admits He Is Not Financially Responsible
New York reports Charlies W. Morse acknowledged in testimony that he is not financially responsible and suggested creditors push him toward bankruptcy. Morse, a former banker pardoned by President Taft after serving two years of a fifteen year banking crime sentence, spoke to London lawyer A. Levings Whately who is examining him in a suit by Abel J. Culver against Peter McCarthy. Culver seeks a $100,000 fee for aiding Morse and McCarthy to regain control of Hudson Navigation after the 1907 panic. Morse added he has taken no penal bankruptcy action.
