Lichtys kinship query crosses state lines in Iowa
Daniel P Lichty born 1844 in Somerset Pennsylvania and Ephram Lichty born about 70 years ago also from Somerset exchange letters from Norway Linn County and Black Hawk County seeking to untangle a family tie. Ephriam believes all Lichtys in the area descend from two Swiss brothers who arrived around the Revolutionary era. The Linn County Lichty mentions his grandfather came from Switzerland and died in Hagerstown Pennsylvania. The two families are urged to visit to discuss the possible relation. They celebrate a Golden Wedding on December 38. The Scotch Grove settlement hosts the Lichty family, whose Pennsylvania blacksmith ancestor made the original Lichty ax.
