Consider Railroad Bridges Over the Mississippi
A meeting will be held January 27 in Rock Island in the United States engineers’ office to discuss proposed railway bridges over the Mississippi. One bridge would span the big power dam at Keokuk, another from Taber’s sawmill at Keokuk to the Des Moines river mouth. Bills before Congress authorize these bridges, and engineers seek input from steamboat men and navigation interests. Also to be considered is the advisability of permitting the C M and St I railway to shorten its sheer booms on bridges at La Crosse McGregor and Sabula.
