Postponed Tax Sale Yields More Income

Salvation Army Crusade Planned in Waterloo Doors Open Thursday
A Salvation Army salvation crusade begins Thursday at 513 Water Street Waterloo and continues daily for at least ten days. The wholly religious effort aims to reclaim souls through music singing and stirring sermons led by Commandants LePlount with visiting salvationists from Des Moines and elsewhere. A chorus of 60 children led by Mrs Seagrave will sing nightly. Sunday is homecoming day with attendance urged for 10:30 a.m. services. Last year the crusade drew over 200 converts and pledges the church hopes for full participation.

Record Rail Car Movement Reaches 3003 Cars In One Day
The Illinois Central reported 3003 empty and loaded freight cars used Sunday, the third largest daily total. About half were empty box and coat cars bound for mines in Illinois and Kentucky or for the northwest to load fruit grain and meat. Most load was eastbound with western goods. This marks a peak in winter business, with earlier records noted from October and November. Coal car shortages persist with gradual relief seen in Iowa per the viinmaster.
