Assessors Start Tax Work Amid Exceptions in Several Townships
In Black Hawk County, assessors began the 1921 tax work with most townships listing property today after the county board set days for compensation. McIntosh of Waterloo and Federspiel of Poyner township refused to qualify, while deputies in Waterloo commenced work with salaries raised from 3.50 to 4.25 per day. The board reported 1919 costs and noted a projected cut below 11,000 for 1921, with no power to fix listing days this year. Training and preliminary hearings followed in related cases as officers were installed and costs compared.
