Worker Falls Twenty Feet From Ice Chute
Fred Aschenbrenner of 324 Hammond avenue slipped on ice at the Crystal Ice and Fuel Co icehouse at Cedar second streets and fell about 20 feet to the frozen river. He suffered severe injuries to head and back with several teeth broken but remained conscious. He was taken to St. Francis Hospital by police ambulance. The fall partially broke his path down the embankment and he landed on the ice below. X rays showed no broken bones though back and shoulder injuries were severe and may worsen. This was his second accident at the site after a prior bruise incident a few days earlier.
