Women Republicans organize Iowa unit for state central committee

Des Moines Jan 3 Abs Lodson appointed chairwoman of the Iowa women s state central committee has organized 40 counties as part of a statewide effort to frame a parallel structure to the men s committee. Eleven district representatives will join county, township and precinct groups with plans to attend the Des Moines Republican conference next Tuesday where National Chairman Hayes will speak. Mrs Dodson notes the aim is to energize women voters and showcase the party s record, while Iowa women Democrats are being organized by Miss Anna Lawther of Dubuque.

Burlington Iowa January 3. If the Whatsover circle of King's Daughters succeeds in accepting the Clare Morehouse homestead as a condition the portrait of W. H. Morehouse and a large pier glass must be placed in fixed spots. The will devises the homestead to the circle but if rejected the portrait would hang over the mantel of the reception hall while the pier glass stands there. If not accepted the homestead goes to the First Baptist church as parsonage and the portrait would be hung in the Burlington hospital or Mason temple.
