Growth of Iowa Banks Reveals Unmatched Deposits Rise
Des Moines Feb 28 1928 Attorney General Ben Gibson told the Iowa Press association that Iowa banking history shows deposits rising sharply despite population growth lagging. From 1900 to 1920 deposits jumped about 700 percent, with 1920s gains through 1924 reflecting a period labeled storm center of business disaster. He praised Iowa’s bankers and urged faith to sustain the state’s economic ascent.
