Borglum Flees After Monument Models Destruction
Atlanta, Feb. 26. Gutzon Borglum fled police today to avoid arrest on a warrant charging wanton destruction of a model of the Stone Mountain monument to Confederate heroes. The sculptor, who designed the memorial nine years ago, allegedly ordered the models destroyed last night after being dismissed by the Memorial association. A warrant is out for his assistant J. G. Tucker, and authorities in Georgia and South Carolina were alerted.

C G Kerwig Injured in Car Collision Near La Porte City
C G Kerwig a salesman for Smith Lichty le Hillman company suffered severe head bruises and cuts when his car wrecked five miles north of La Porte City on his way home. He was treated in Waterloo where doctors dressed his injuries and he was able to leave the scene today. The other driver in the crash was not identified. Kerwig’s own car was abandoned.

Two Waterloo youths Gilbert Austin and Marvin Fowler both 16 are in custody in Cedar Rapids after confessing to stealing a Ford from near Walnut Court in Waterloo and driving it to Bucklin Missouri. They were found with a $10 gasoline coupon book stolen from the vehicle. The Cedar Rapids chief said the car’s owner is unknown. A telegram was sent to Bucklin to verify details.
