Scales' Feat at Sans Souci Praised by Engineers
George PF Scales, general contractor, earned wide acclaim in engineering circles for a concrete railway bridge at Sans Souci built last year despite zero winter weather. Construction started fall 1922. the bridge spans 440 feet. A cement company pamphlet highlights an accurate daily temperature record and notes winter pours can be more durable if properly protected.
