No Disbarment For Polk Lawyer Van Liew
Polk County district court in Marshall county yesterday dismissed the disbarment case against Des Moines attorney Fred T. Van Liew after prosecutors and judge Charles F Hutchinson concluded that the evidence could not support the charges. The three-man prosecuting panel had based the accusations on a grievance committee report and included issues involving land transactions with Pearl Glenn and questions of military exemption. A third count involved advising Robert L Carroll to sign his wife’s name on an exemption affidavit and accepting $2 for services. Charges were filed by Hutchinson Wilcoxen and Perry after review by five Polk County judges. Des Moines, Feb 25.
