Plot Thickens in County Road Engineer Case
The county board elected FP OJ Nelson as engineer last January but he left after February when the Iowa highway commission objected to his appointment. He resumed work yesterday and says his return was partly due to both his own accord and invitation by the board. A decision on his status is expected at next week’s board meeting, with the highway commission’s stance likely shaping the outcome. Petitions still circulate for Nathan Barber, the county engineer for six years, amid ongoing questions of the commission’s authority over local appointments.
