Old Fairy Tale Imagining Has Actual Demonstration at Mason City
Mason City February 24. Ben Brisben, who had his hand crushed in a well drill, died or rather his hand was amputated at the wrist. The hand was buried at home and for a week he seemed to recover but then suffered extreme pain. He described coldness and water running over the hand, and the box containing the hand was soaked by rain. After reopening the box the pain subsided but returned when the box was handled. A galvanized iron box was made and the hand stored in the attic. Since then the arm worsened and blood poisoning developed, with fear the arm may be amputated again. Community folks say it really happened.
