County academy system urged to bridge rural and city schools
Prof C G Wilcox of Sergeant Bluffs IA argued for a county academy high school system to address industrial social and economic problems. He urged rural curricula including basic agriculture to keep rural youth from moving to city schools and away from farming. Mrs S M Harbaugh and Mrs R M Gunn offered practical talks on keeping youth on farms and using gasoline engines to aid housework. Judge Kansier commented on farm life and a nominating committee was formed as the institute nears adjournment.
