Two Nanogenarians Claim Iowa Record and 75-Year Marriage

Des Moines report notes Josiah S. Rock, 97, and his wife, 94, claim a unique Iowa record for 75 years of marriage. Married Feb 25 1845 in Bedford County Pennsylvania, they moved to Iowa two years later and have long resident in Delaware and Linn counties. Rock, a former United Brethren minister for over 40 years, and his wife raised an adopted son and daughter who are now dead.

Judge Nathaniel French longtime Davenport industrialist and head of the local draft exemption board died in a Puerta? Sun hospital in Arizona at age 65. Born Dover Massachusetts he built French & Hecht metal wheels and served as circuit judge and attorney before focusing on manufacturing and philanthropy. Survivors include two brothers a sister a son and a daughter. Body to be brought to Davenport.
