Compensation on German plan debated in Iowa Senate
A bid in the Iowa legislature adopts a German style workers compensation system. It creates a state Industrial Commission to fund death, sickness and injury coverage through employer and employee contributions. Maximum death benefit would be 4500 dollars under this plan, with weekly benefits and long-term disability rules. The bill also details administration costs to be paid by the state and local claim disbursements. A separate note mentions a proposed 16000 dollar appropriation to mark Gettysburg’s fiftieth anniversary in Iowa.
