Paving Crews Begin Spring Road Improvement Jobs

Paving and grading crews start work for the summer on Grant highway with two paving teams at Cedar Falls and east of Waterloo, plus two graders on the Red Ball highway between Waterloo and La Porta City. A survey shortens the route, eliminates two dangerous grade crossings, and relocates about a mile. Traffic counts show 2000 to 2300 vehicles daily on Rainbow drive, with gasoline savings potentially funding Red Ball paving in 15 years. Appraisers near completion assess benefits from pavement on Grant highway, with 25 percent district benefit remaining.
