Arrest Turns Out to Be Fake Imposter Case in Waterloo
A sensational tale of a supposed fraudster Dan C Beard of Chicago was fueled by a circular from the International Automobile League of Buffalo offering a $1000 reward for his arrest. Police and Beard contest charges while Buffalo and Chicago leagues clash over alleged misrepresentation. Beard, claiming innocence, says the arrest is a trap to cripple his company and vows legal action. Officers Wagner and Garrison earned praise for a sharp, timely nab in Hankner's saloon.
