Seven Names Short Spark Feb Liquor Petition Trial
A district court trial is set for February after the saloon petition contest found seven names short of a majority. J. B. Hammond’s tally shows 62 names rejected as not identical with poll books, 33 withdrawn, 6 duplicates, 2,20454 etc. The Board of Supervisors resolution declaring insufficiency passed six to one, triggering appeals and bond filing. Proceedings shift to the district court with attorneys on both sides, and timing depends on court schedule. the new saloon license quarter begins April 1. The outcome will decide if saloons reopen or remain closed until a new petition passes or the high court rules.
