Dey Moines February 5 Jen Martin Elias Jim O Connell self confessed robber of Cottage Grove bank and Hobbs Jewelry store pled guilty in police court to both charges. They waived to the grand jury under 16000 bond eight thousand for each offense. An effort will be made to speedy action by the grand jury so that the youth may be sane. Private Charles Haught of the cooks and bakers at Camp Nodse was arraigned today. Haught implicated with Martin in the Mobbs hold up and pled guilty to relieving W G Wanks of a 15 dollar watch. He was sentenced to thirty days in the city jail. Singleton the soldier bandit held up the Cottage Grove bank is still at large.

Mrs. Walter A. Smith of Bou ton Iowa was fatally burned Saturday evening after pouring gasoline on a kitchen fire thinking it was kerosene. She died seven hours later at King's Daughters hospital. Her husband, also burned, tried to help. The 36 year old mother of four children rolled in snow to ease the pain. only the baby suffered minor injuries.

George W Young died early Saturday morning in La Porte City after a period of illness. He was born December 8, 1849 in Morgan County Ohio and married Emma Newton October 12, 1876. He lived in Me Shanlesville and Benton County before settling in La Porte City area. He leaves widow, six children Leslie, John, Myrtle, Earl, Ella and Pearl, seven grandchildren, two sisters and three brothers. Funeral services were held Monday at home with Rev E S Genting presiding.
