Iowa House backs public utilities memorial to Congress
Des Moines Feb 4 The Iowa house adopted resolutions urging Congress to regulate railroads and the telephone and telegraph companies with state and local input. The measures, introduced Saturday by Klaus Delaware and Epps Wapello, accuse mismanagement and poor service under government control. Utilities leaders fear changes to replace city rate setting with a state railroad board. The senate meanwhile approved Senate File No 80 on liens and a Wright senator Schaffier bill allowing city councils to revise city ordinances.
