Will Recommend 974000 for Fair in Iowa
Des Moines February 3 The appropriations committee urged a bill to provide 76000 dollars to aid Iowa exhibitors at the Panama Pacific Exposition in San Francisco. A special governor appointed commission would oversee the funds, with itemized allocations to ease disputes among exhibitors and possible state audit by the executive council. The plan follows prior exposition practices and aims to avoid controversy. The house temperance committee sent the repeal of the mulet law to subcommittee for secret-ballot consideration, with roll call possible. The bill on state control of electrical lines would require the railroad board to set standards for all electric infrastructure within 90 days, enforce rules, appoint inspectors, and validate city ordinances or face 1000 dollar fines. Upcoming cases include Cedar Rapids union depot, Calmar, Algona, and branch-line disputes. Fort Madison warden Sanders reports progress on manufacturing state motor trucks.
