The county board discharged Mrs. Simonsen, the public health nurse for rural and district schools, due to depleted funds. The move ends a two year service funded by Christmas seal proceeds and Red Cross support, leaving rural districts without nurse coverage unless new financing is arranged.
Los Angeles February 2 A 1 round Dempsey Willard bout scheduled for March 1 in New York has been indefinitely postponed per Dempsey who cited a New York boxing commission ruling capping admission. Tex Rickard promotes a Dempsey Carpentier bout on a percentage with likely 25 percent minimum. A formal statement from Rickard may follow as negotiations hinge on new contract terms and the commission rule.
