Federal Census Starts Friday Across the Nation

The tenth federal census launches Friday morning with enumerators in all states. In the Third district supervisor Anson T. Hukill notes readiness, with assistant Henry A. Snyder. Enumerators will carry government commissions and ID cards and may request them if a resident is suspicious. The form asks for residence, family members, ownership, race, age, marital status, immigration, literacy, birthplace, parents’ birthplaces, language, trade, industry and work status. In the district there are 205 enumerators, with vacancies, including many women. Waterloo and county canvasses show a strong female majority among workers. A long list of enumerators across wards and townships follows.
