Entry Into War-Driven Industry and Prices In 1917
Bradstreet's Review analyzes 1917 as a landmark year when the United States moved from neutral trade to full wartime mobilization. It details massive government controls, loans, conscription, and war-driven price increases that boosted industry, agriculture, and shipping, while public taxes and inflation pressed civilians. The piece notes record crops, surging commodity prices, and the dollar's diminished purchasing power, with a forward look at finance and commerce shaped by ongoing global conflict.
