Armory for Company B Fifty-third Iowa Guards Opens
Officers and men of Company B prepare to occupy a newly built armory on Sixth Street East. The $30,000 structure features a 60 by 110 foot drill hall, a large banquet room, a 60 by 110 foot ballroom, a first floor laundry, shooting gallery, and two galleries with 500 spectator seating. Formal dedication planned for late January with state dignitaries.
