Surrender of the German High Sea Fleet Seen Aboard Texas
On November 21 1918 the German High Sea Fleet surrendered in the Firth of Forth as Beatty’s grand fleet escorted the interned ships. Aboard the Texas the scene mixed awe and jolly wartime bravado with German crews under strict British control, while US ships guarded the capitulation and the Kaiser’s fleet drifted in silence amid a historic end to four years of pursuit.
