In Muscatine Iowa on December 26 the United States government suffered a 60000 dollar loss from a fire that wiped out the main laboratory at the US Biological Station in Fairport Indiana. Water pressure was insufficient and the blaze began on upper floors. Some library and museum contents were saved.
