Payroll Bandits Haul 340000 In Dual Robberies
Three men ambushed at the Sidney hotel injuring a man with a gas pipe and firing on a porter. A fourth bandit drove away in a waiting car as the group escaped, leaving $15000 in Binzen’s pockets and taking an automatic pistol. In Chicago a separate vault robbery at Summit Bank netted about 30000 with two more large sacks overlooked. Gary detectives pursue the four robbers after a deadly daylight heist that killed porter Spencer Tillman and wounded Blaloonkeeper Binzen as they carried 25000 in cash to cash payroll checks.
