Pedigreed Bull Mistakenly Sent to Slaughterhouse

Mason City readers learned a high grade bull valued at 750 dollars was shipped by the M and St. L railroad to the Deckers meat packing plant without a bill of lading. The bull was skinned quartered and distributed to local meat eaters before proper instructions arrived. The Deckers will be charged 75 dollars the bull's market value 675 dollars the railroad's charge.

Theft of tobacco from Hampton streetcar car

Nine boxes of tobacco valued at 500 dollars were stolen from a car on M and St L tracks in Hampton Iowa on Friday morning. The shipment was consigned to Hampton Mercantile Company and C Holmes.

La Porte City Plans Christmas Vacation Schedule

La Porte City public school will close next Wednesday for a two week holiday and reopen Thursday January 6. School programs will be held in classrooms and pastors will cover Christmas and New Year activities. Obituary notices report P C Christianson assistant cashier at State Bank of Benton, his mother Rebecca Guam Christianson died in California. She was born in Illinois married in 1870, survived by three sons and two daughters, with burial planned in Iowa City.
