Compass neglect alarms naval observers report
Captain Pollock cites gyrocompass reliance as a dangerous trend on destroyers and submarines while urging greater use of magnetic compass training. He notes few officers understand deviation, cautions the compass course needs broader access, and reports successful radio time signals for longitude in 1924. Eclipse observations and solar activity are also discussed with plans for Sumatra and ongoing sunspot research.
